In 2009 we are offering the choice of taking one, two or even three separate tours to different regions, taking in many of the star regions, most probably during harvest time - so there will be lots of excitement and the opportunity to see all the action first hand to really understand the work of the winemaker.

The first option is our wonderful Southern Australia tour, taking in the Clare, Barossa, Adelaide Hills and McClaren Vale. We start with two nights in the small rural town of Clare, which wine-wise is particularly renowned for its Riesling. We get the tour off to an enjoyable start with dinner at Skillagalee, then visits to Knappstein and Pike’s Polish Hill.

We travel the short distance to the Barossa, where we’ll meet some great characters and world class wine makers. The wineries on our list include Charlie Melton, Heritage, Rockford, Peter Lehmann’s, Yalumba and St Halletts and new superstars Turkey Flat and Torbrek. In the Adelaide Hills we’ll lunch at one of Australia’s top restaurants, Petaluma Bridgewater Mill.

We then spend a couple of nights in Adelaide and have a day in the McLaren Vale famous for its big rich reds and exotic fruity whites. Our tastings will be with Primo, Wirra Wirra and Coriole.
