Walking in the Vineyards of Central Loire
Walk through the vineyards of the Central Loire with wonderful tastings and picnic lunches along the way. The walk starts in Saumur, staying for two nights, then following the Loire River upstream through the Saumur-Champigny vineyards and troglodyte villages.
We will taste Saumur brut and red Touraine. Then we continue on to the medieval town and castle of Chinon on the River Vienne, where we stay for another two nights. Near here we have several visits to cellars to taste Chinon, Bourgueil and St Nicholas de Bourgueil.
You then stay at a beautiful Chateau near Vouvray. Here after visiting the gardens of Villandry, walk through the vineyards of Montlouis and Vouvray with a couple of superb tastings on route.
Along the way you'll have tasted fine sparkling wines, classic dry whites, reds ranging from fruity and elegant through to reasonably powerful, and some absolutely lovely sweet wines too. Of course there may have been some rose wines, some surprisingly good 'medium dry' wines, semi-sparkling wines and aromatic wines too! The Loire has a huge range of styles and the quality has been very good recently.
Please register your interest in this tour if you would like to see them as part of the Arblaster & Clarke programme in the future, or alternatively if you would like to arrange a private tailor-made trip of a similar specification please do call us to find out more details.
The Central Loire wine walk is one of our easiest walking holidays. Walk Rating: Generally easy going, with some longish sections.
