On our first evening in Reims the comparative tasting will show you a variety of out-performing Champagnes.
Our appointments start at Champagne Tarlant, one of our recent discoveries that is proving hugely popular for their wonderfully crafted Champagnes. Our late afternoon visit is to H Billiot & Fils to taste their rather delicious Grands Crus from Ambonnay, rich and powerful like neighbouring Grand Cru village Bouzy, but a little more refined. Dinner this evening is at Ployez-Jacquemart where Laurence, the skilled wine-maker, is also a gourmet chef.
Our final morning is to Billecart Salmon in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. who are particularly renowned for the delicate style of their Rosé - the essence of their style has always been its meticulous production, from the double "débourbage" to its long, slow, very cool fermentation.
Our grande finale is our gourmet lunch at the house of Philipponnat also in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. This is accompanied by their Champagnes including the blockbuster ‘Clos des Goisses’.
