Champagne Vineyard Walk

3 - 7 June 2009, 2 - 6 September 2009

“Champagne” of course means countryside and this walk takes us away from the big cellars of Reims and Epernay into the vines of the villages such as Aÿ and Le Mesnil.

For the first two days we cover the Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the famous Pinot Noir vine- yards of Bouzy, Ambonnay and Aÿ on our wine walk.

Then we have a day for the premier crus of the Vallée de la Marne passing through Champillon, Hautvillers, Dizy and Cumières. Theoretically this is a Pinot Meunier vineyard but we will see Chardonnay and Pinot Noir too.

A day covers the Chardonnay vineyard of the Côtes des Blancs from Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Oger to Le Mesnil.

Along the way we’ll taste at many of these villages with growers (since we have arranged well over 100 Champagne tours - we have a good few growers to choose from!) as well as tasting classic Champagnes with negociants such as the excellent Philipponat who are also out in the countryside too.*
